Vitamin C- Ascorbic Acid

Actions

Vitamin C boosts the immune system. It improves white blood cell function and activity, and increases antibody levels and responses, as well as interferon levels.

Studies show that vitamin C reduces the severity and duration of the common cold. Vitamin C acts as a mucolytic, breaking down mucus and decreasing congestion.

The immune enhancing attributes of vitamin C make it a crucial component of both cancer therapy and cancer prevention.

Vitamin C plays a significant role in the stress response. The adrenal glands store the highest concentration of vitamin C in the body.

Vitamin C acts as a  powerful  antioxidant, crucial in offsetting  the oxidizing effects of  multiple chemicals including cigarette smoke and pollution. High vitamin C intake correlates with decreased risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Vitamin C performs a vital function in wound healing, healthy gums, and the prevention of easy bruising and is useful in the treatment of cataracts, diabetes, allergies, and asthma.
