NAET, developed in 1984 by Dr. Devi Nambudripad stands for Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique. NAET provides an alternative and effective approach to treating and removing allergies. Most allergy treatment plans rely on medication and/or avoidance for symptom relief. NAET, on the other hand removes the allergic response from the body, eliminating the need for medication or avoidance.
NAET combines muscle testing (applied kinesiology) and Chinese medicine techniques and theory to desensitize the body to allergens. Specifically, NAET resets the body's response to a given allergen by reprogramming the energetic flow of the body. This technique exists well outside of western medical practice and paradigm. Similar to Chinese medicine, NAET diagnosis and treatment does not rely on the Western structure of disease definition.
Western medicine defines allergy as an over-reaction of the immune system to an object (allergen) creating typical allergic symptoms (i.e. sneezing, runny nose, sinusitis, and itchy eyes). NAET defines an allergy as a sensitivity to one or more substances causing disharmony within the body resulting in many possible symptoms. This rests on the theory that allergens cause an abnormal reaction in the brain resulting in the blockage of one or more energy meridians in the body. These blockages create symptoms including arthritis, brain fog, fatigue, sneezing, and chronic sinus infections. When the blockages clear, the symptoms resolve.
Allergens include the substances listed below:
To determine allergies for an individual, a variety of tests may be performed. Skin scratch tests, blood tests, bio-meridian machine testing, and muscle testing may all be used to determine allergies. No single test provides 100% accuracy. NAET practitioners often utilize more than one form of testing to determine allergies. However, in an NAET session muscle testing is performed to determine the extent of allergy and in which system/organ the allergen creates imbalance. Muscle testing allows the practitioner to test anything including foods, people, remedies, and chemicals.
The treatment consists of acupressure according to NAET protocol and retesting to verify the clearing process. The individual rests for 15-20 minutes after the treatment and is then retested one last time before leaving. NAET requires that the individual stay away from the allergen for a designated period of time and distance. Sometimes these requirements cause a significant level of inconvenience. This treatment, though effective, requires planning ahead and a strong commitment to the process. Individuals with a few allergies will require fewer sessions than those with multiple allergies and/or chronic ailments. Some patients with severe allergic reactions may need multiple treatments for a single allergen or long-term avoidance before they can safely interact with the allergen.
