Warming Socks Handout

PATIENT FEEDBACK SURVEY

Most of you have been on the receiving end of my recommendation for "Warming Socks." Although it doesn't sound fun to have cold socks on one's feet, the initial shock disappears quickly. Just make sure you get into a warm bed immediately after putting on the wet socks to avoid catching a chill.

I love this remedy and see amazing results time and time again. This remedy works well at any stage of one's illness. However, I particularly like its effects during the initial onset of colds, flus, and sinus infections. The body directs blood from the head down to the feet to warm up the socks. This acts to reflexively increase the circulation and decrease congestion in the upper respiratory passages, head, and throat.  It has a sedating action and many patients report that they sleep much better during the treatment.

When using "Warming Socks" for healing, perform the treatment at least three nights in a row for maximum benefit. This treatment is safe for everyone except in those with diabetic neuropathy and/or compromised circulation in the extremities. Often when used in the initial stages of an infection, this treatment will knock the infection right out. Enjoy!

Indications:

  • Sore throat or any inflammation or infection of the throat
  • Colds and Flus
  • Neck pain
  • Ear infections
  • Headaches including migraines
  • Nasal congestion
  • Upper respiratory infections, coughs, bronchitis, and sinus infections
  • Insomnia

Supplies:

  • 1 pair thin cotton socks
  • 1 pair thick wool or cotton socks
  • Bowl of ice water
  • Towel
  • Warm bath, shower, or foot bath

Directions:

  1. Take a pair of cotton socks and soak them completely in the ice water.
  2. Warm your feet first.  This is very important as the treatment will not be as effective and could be harmful if your feet are not warmed first.  Warming can be accomplished by soaking your feet in warm water for 5-10 minutes or taking a warm bath or shower for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Dry feet and body with a towel.
  4. Wring the socks out thoroughly so they do not drip. Place cold wet socks on feet.  Cover with thick socks.  Go directly to bed.  Avoid getting chilled.
  5. Keep the socks on overnight.  The wet cotton socks will be dry in the morning.
