Shamanic Healing Techniques

Benefits of Shamanic Counseling:
  • Provides new insight and clarity to life’s challenges.
  • Helps bring awareness to previously ignored or suppressed issues that surface today as anxiety, fear, anger, and sadness.
  • Helps change and transform repeated behavioral and relationship patterns that create conflict in everyday life.
  • The Soul Retrieval helps identify the original wounding behind feelings that have created complicated emotions and behavioral patterns.
  • Helps identify mind/body/spirit causes of physical ailments especially asthma, digestive complaints, and PMS and gynecological conditions.

The ancient healing traditions of Shamanism are highly effective for modern day problems.

Core Shamanism

I am trained as a shamanic practitioner in the Core Shamanism technique, founded by Michael Harner. This teaching is not rooted in any one particular tradition but instead synthesizes various techniques and practices from cultures around the world.

Most indigenous cultures have or have had shamans and/or medicine people who are/ were responsible for the healing of their people. The shamans from these many cultures have core techniques in common including the shamanic journey, soul retrieval, and extractions.

The practice of shamanism utilizes the aid of spirit guides, animal totems, and drumming to access information specific to each client. This information guides the practitioner in the healing of the individual.

I combine the healing art of Reiki with the practice of shamanism. This healing energy helps clear blockages, relaxes the client, and allows me to go deeper into the healing process for the patient. You can expect rattling, drumming, and a feeling of deep relaxation during the hands-on treatment.

I give shamanic treatments independent of counseling but most often recommends that they be done together in the healing of an individual.

Soul Loss and Soul Retrieval

When individuals experience an isolated traumatic event or a continuous trauma, often times that person shuts down a part of themselves in order to cope with the situation. If the trauma continues, then the person may dissociate from the event and leave their body to avoid the pain.

If the part is left shut down it then becomes unavailable to the conscious mind or “lost.” The soul retrieval is the reunification of these parts into a whole person.

Causes of Soul Loss:

  • Physical trauma: accident, surgery, illness.
  • Emotional: death of loved one, divorce, relationship breakup, abandonment, emotional abuse.
  • Sexual abuse, incest, rape.
  • Abortion, miscarriage,
  • Combat stress, addiction.

Indications of Soul Loss:

  • Dissociation
  • Memory gap
  • Depression/sadness
  • Feeling “out of it” or “spaced out”
  • “Seeing the world with the mind but not feeling the experience in the body”
  • Feeling a hole in the heart and soul
  • Feeling like something is left behind.
